The sustainable solution- A major point to bear in mind is that in order to produce the same amount of light that a conventional light bulb would produce an LED would only consume a fraction of the power. Another factor in the total cost of ownership of luminaries is the maintenance cost. Since LEDs can last for over 22 years (approximately 50,000 hours at 70% lumen maintenance) compared to conventional lamps is significantly shorter lifespan, therefore a maintenance crew is needed to replace the luminaries. LEDs require less power to produce the same lumen output as other lamps, meaning a direct saving in energy costs. And because they last several times longer than other lamps, the energy use associated with the frequent replacement of lamps is also reduced. Finally, at the end of their long life, LEDs can be safely disassembled and recycled.
